Acting

Thomas began a serious career in acting when he traveled to London to complete a course at Richmond Drama School in London, a course accredited by Oxford University. Finding London a bit too expensive and cold on an actor’s budget he decided to return to Australia.

Returning to Australia he performed guest roles on most of Australia’s top dramas including Neighbours, Blue Heelers, Seachange, Stingers and Dogwoman.

However, his greatest successes have been in the commercial field having performed in numerous commercials over the years with the undoubted highlight of course being the Continental “it's not me, it's you” ad with no other than Mena Suvari (American Beauty, American Pie).

Thomas’ commercials were all for the Australian and NZ market with the exception of his Washington Mutual ad which has been running in the US since 2003. It premiered at the Superbowl in 2003 and since then has been seen regularly including a spot on “Funniest Television Commercials”.

His most challenging assignment was in 2000, when he had to shoot three spots in two days in NZ for Network Video. The first spot was shot in the pool and Thomas had to swim fully clothed. The campaign turned out pretty well though.

Another bizarre advert involved Thomas having at least fifteen costume callbacks in order to be fitted up as an Alien for an Enjo advertisement. Plaster was poured over his whole body in order to ensure a perfect fit. The added bonus was free body waxing. Ouch!! The Alien was voiced by none other than Alexi Sayle.

He has also appeared in an ongoing role as “Michael Mooremoney” for the Commonwealth Bank’s in house tv channel.
